Zlatan Ibrahimovic says his wife only lets him hang one picture of himself at home, and it's not even of his face. The LA Galaxy striker is renowned for scoring other-worldly goals and wants you to think he is omnipotent on the pitch as he previously compared himself to God. But a recent interview with BBC Radio 5 suggests his powers are nullified at home. This is because his wife, Helena Seger, does not allow him to hang too many self-portraits — one is more than enough for the Ibrahimovic house. "My wife does not allow me to have pictures of myself," he said. "She says, 'There is already enough talk of you and I don't want to see you on the walls. It is enough that I see you in real life.'"

The LA Galaxy have an important tradition. When a new player joins the club, he must run through a gauntlet of his teammates, then tell a joke. To wear the Major League Soccer team's storied white, navy blue and gold uniforms, a player has to partake in the ritual. There are no exceptions. Not even for Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Soon after signing in March, the international superstar took his turn. Ibrahimovic, the scorer of hundreds of goals and winner of trophies everywhere he's gone, began with a simple question. He asked his new mates if they believed in God. Most of them raised their hands. He paused a beat before smiling and saying, "Then you believe in me." The collected Galaxy burst out laughing.

It was an odd season. After the highflying end of 2017, it was assumed that RSL would be one of the better squads in MLS the following year. But that’s not what happened. The team saw huge wins, such as the 6-0 demolition of the Rapids and 6-2 defeat over Zlatan and his team, but also saw several embarrassing losses, such as the 5-1 home opener against LAFC. After LA Galaxy failed to beat Houston (thanks for those three goals, Dynamo), they never overtook RSL. Real then went to Los Angeles and, for the first time ever, beat LAFC. It was a shocking upset. Then came Sporting Kansas City. A team everyone in Utah should hate. There’s a lot of history there, and once again, Real fell in Kansas City.
