The mystery of how Stonehenge’s bluestones were transported 160 miles from Wales to Wiltshire has puzzled archaeologists for generations. Some experts say glaciers picked up and deposited the huge rocks in the last ice age, while others have suggested the stones were dragged on rollers or sleds by manpower. Yet new research may point to a far simpler explanation - that cattle were used to shift the massive cargo. Archaeologists at University College London have found that cattle were being used as engines to pull heavy loads as early as 6,000BC. In a new study, published in Antiquity, archaeologists discovered that the bones in the feet of Neolithic cattle in the Balkans demonstrated distinctive wear patterns, indicating they were being used for traction, almost 2,000 years earlier than previously thought. It means that Neolithic farmers had already been using cattle to move loads for thousands of years before Stonehenge was constructed 5,000 years ago. Lead author Dr Jane Gaastra, o...

Gareth Bale ended a three-month goal drought in La Liga to give Real Madrid a nervy 1-0 win away to basement club Huesca on Sunday, taking his side back into the top four at the expense of Alaves. The Wales forward, who had not found the net in the league since Sept. 1 but had scored in the Champions League, gave Real an ideal start by volleying home a cross from Alvaro Odriozola in the eighth minute. Huesca, bottom of the table with a meagre seven points and without a win since the opening day of the season, did not lay down against the European champions though, and it took a flying save from Thibaut Courtois to prevent Ezequiel Avila levelling soon afterwards.

Although digital tokens are technically secured through blockchain technology, the level of legal protection is unclear. The price of Bitcoin has dropped by 75% in the past year, so anyone who invested heavily at the peak will have lost a lot of money. And now there’s more bad news for crypto-currency investors to worry about: they may not legally own the digital assets they have purchased. My colleagues and I have recently completed research showing that courts in England and Wales are unlikely to identify digital tokens as property, since the law does not recognise possession of intangible items. This means that crypto-currency holdings may not qualify as property at all. As a result, although digital tokens are technically secured through blockchain technology, the level of legal protection is unclear. And the same likely applies in other common law jurisdictions such as the United States, Hong Kong, Singapore, and most of India.Defining propertyProperty law deals with the ri...
