The Duchess of Sussex joined her husband for a walkabout on Fraser Island, having spent the morning resting as her pregnancy "takes its toll". Meghan, wearing a striped dress by Reformation and brown leather lace-up sandals, clutched her baby bump for part of the walk under blue skies in Queensland. The Duke had attended three of the day's engagements on his own, including an unveiling of the Queen's Commonwealth Canopy, where he joked about plaque-unveiling running "in the family". He had told his pregnant wife to take it easy as the couple carry out a 16-day tour across Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and Tonga, telling Invictus Games athletes on Sunday: "Being pregnant takes its toll". It is understood that the Duchess of Sussex is to resume her full royal tour programme as of now and will undertake the full schedule in Fiji and Tonga unless circumstances change again.  The Duchess was glowing as she arrived by car to meet her husband, havin...

CARDIFF, Wales (AP) — Cardiff recorded its first win of the season in the English Premier League by beating Fulham 4-2 and moved off the bottom of the standings on Saturday. Fulham scored the best goal of the game — through Andre Schurrle's 30-meter strike — but the league's leakiest defense soon conceded twice, to Josh Murphy and Bobby Reid. Ryan Sessegnon equalized before halftime with his first Premier League goal, but makeshift striker Callum Paterson restored Cardiff's lead, and substitute Kadeem Harris secured the victory three minutes from time. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have paid tribute to Australia’s war dead as they attended the unveiling of an Anzac memorial 84 years in the making. The Anzac Memorial in Sydney’s Hyde Park, which commemorates the sacrifices made by those who served for Australia and New Zealand, was designed in the 1930s by Bruce Dellitt.  But following the Great Depression, the finances were not available to make Mr Dellitt's vision -  including a four-tier cascading waterfall on the Liverpool Street side of the monument - a reality. The Duke, wearing the tropical dress of his regiment, the Blues and Royals, with medals, KCVO and sword, and Duchess, wearing an Emilia Wickstead dress and Philip Tracey hat, were met by Prime Minister Scott Morrison, Premier of New South Wales Gladys Berejiklian and David Elliott, minister for Veterans Affairs on an overcast Sydney morning.  There were also crowds along Liverpool Street, while more people - and a cardboard cutout of Harry and Meghan - wat...

With criticism mounting of his management methods, as well as the team’s style of play, Martin O’Neill remains adamant he will guide the Republic of Ireland to European Championship qualification despite another dismal defeat to Wales. The 1-0 loss in Dublin means Ireland will almost certainly be relegated from their Nations League Group and will be among the third seeds when the draw for the Euro qualifiers is made in December. This is undoubtedly the toughest period of O’Neill’s five-year reign and his detractors are becoming increasingly emboldened on the other side of the Irish Sea following a run of five competitive games without a win.

Creativity can be the bridge between science and humanities education Gareth Loudon, Cardiff Metropolitan UniversityIn his famous Rede Lecture of 1959, chemist and novelist C P Snow spoke of the separation of science and the humanities, and the lack of respect and understanding that often exists between the fields. He argued that this was detrimental to the future success of the country as many creative breakthroughs come from the interaction between the two cultures. Snow put a large part of the blame on what he called “our fanatical belief in educational specialisation” and focusing on “producing a tiny elite educated in one academic skill”. Unfortunately, not much seems to have changed. The World Economic Forum’s 2016 future of jobs report highlighted that most educational systems still “provide highly siloed training” with a “dichotomy between humanities and sciences”. But industry needs people who can take on cross-functional roles and have technical, socia...
