Florida's governor and GOP Senate candidate could be facing his own scandal over sexual misconduct. On Thursday, POLITICO delved into a pending lawsuit against the state of Florida by Lucille Alford, a 64-year-old former state disability examiner who claims she was sexually harassed in 2014 — and Gov. Rick Scott did nothing about it.Alford, who filed her suit in April of last year, alleges that her boss, Charles Fete, held her in a "bear hug" in his office and whispered innuendo in her ear as she struggled to free herself. She reported the incident to another supervisor, local law enforcement, the Florida Commission on Human Relations, and Scott's office, and the matter was not pursued because she did not offer eyewitnesses to the incident. The suit is scheduled to be heard in February in Leon County court. This week, Alford spoke out publicly about the incident for the first time, speaking with POLITICO reporters. "I tried to get the governor's attention," she said. "I fel...

Ohio backed Trump by a generous margin in 2016. Now Republicans are suddenly on the defensive there. One of the undercovered phenomena of the 2018 election cycle is how the Rust Belt states, which unexpectedly broke for Donald Trump in 2016, have swung sharply in the other direction and seem poised to give Democrats victories — and possibly gains — this year. This is on full display in Ohio, where Trump won by over 8 points.Democratic Sen. Sherrod Brown, who was once considered a possible target for the GOP, looks to be cruising to an easy re-election, with the RealClearPolitics aggregation giving him an average 16-point lead. His GOP challenger, Rep. Jim Renacci, never really caught fire, and is currently fighting a scandal in which he flew on a strip club owner's plane to meet with faith leaders. The governor's race is closer, with Republican attorney general Mike DeWine still slightly ahead in the polling average. But Democratic former bank regulator Richard Cordray is holdi...

Tuesday on Fox News Channel’s “The Story,” Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) predicted the end of Attorney General Jeff Sessions’ tenure as attorney general would be coming to an end in the “not-so-distant future.” Jordan assessed that Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein was running the Department of Justice. “I mean, it’s obvious to me, I think obvious to most people, Rod Rosenstein is in charge of the Justice Department, not Jeff Sessions,” Jordan said. “And I think it’s also obvious that the president is going to be looking for a new attorney general. I think he’s made that pretty clear. My guess is that happens sometime in the not-so-distant future. Jeff Sessions is a good man. He was a good senator, but I think it’s — the president of the United States wants an attorney general that conduct matters different than Jeff Sessions, and I think that will happen sometime, like I said, in the not-too-distant future.”...

Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, participates in the press conference calling on President Trump to declassify the Carter Page FISA applications on Thursday, Sept. 6, 2018. It was a minor shift, and probably signifies nothing very much, but on Tuesday, the political prognosticator Nate Silver noted that his site, FiveThirtyEight, had adjusted its outlook for the congressional race in Ohio’s 4th district, which slithers through the north-central area of the state. It’s indeed a longshot: Silver’s model gives Jordan just a one in twenty chance of losing against retired teacher and union leader Janet Garrett.
