Jurgen Klopp refused to be lured into discussing Paul Pogba ahead of Liverpool's huge clash with Manchester United, but he did admit the midfielder is a "world-class player". Pogba has not started United's last two Premier League fixtures - coming off the bench in the 2-2 draw with Arsenal before being an unused substitute in the 4-1 win over Fulham - ahead of the trip to Anfield on Sunday. The France international's situation at Old Trafford was one of the subjects discussed at Klopp's pre-match press conference on Friday, albeit only briefly.

Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Ince has said he thinks Paul Pogba could leave the Red Devils in the January transfer window. The World Cup winner has not started either of United’s last two Premier League matches and there are now almost daily reports surrounding the Frenchman’s future at Old Trafford. That, for Ince, is proof enough that Pogba will leave the club in the upcoming transfer window.

Paul Pogba will aim to force a move to Real Madrid and is not suited to the Premier League, says former Manchester United star Andrei Kanchelskis. The midfielder has had a very public argument with United manager Jose Mourinho which saw him stripped of the vice-captaincy after he criticised the Portuguese's tactics. Pogba moved back to United for a club record fee of £89.3 million ($112.9m) in 2016 but, although he started his career with the Red Devils, he has struggled to perform in England.

Once upon a time, not even three years ago, Paul Pogba was up there with the most exciting talents on the planet. Compare that Pogba, the one who was such a joy to watch, who was named in the Serie A team of the season three years running and won the 2014 World Cup Best Young Player award, to the withdrawn, error-prone player who now can't even get into the Manchester United team unless it's when the second team play terribly in an end-of-the-group-stage defeat at Valencia, and you are left wondering what might have been. Against Valencia on Wednesday night, Pogba was heavily involved but could not exert any influence on the game, while it was his uncharacteristically heavy touch which stuck in the mind... almost as much as the sitter he missed in the first half (though he was saved by the linesman's flag).

United were beaten 2-1, a result made all the more disappointing given they could have gone through top of Group H following Juventus' surprise loss to Young Boys. Defeat, however, was nothing more than Mourinho's side deserved, as a line-up that included eight changes and a return for Paul Pogba delivered a sluggish display at Mestalla. “I didn't learn anything at all,” Mourinho said. “Nothing surprised me at all.” United go through as runners-up into Monday's draw for the last 16, with Barcelona,
